A reunion of any institute, anywhere, is a special event. September 21, 2008 was a momentous day when Agri-alumni from Pantnagar assembled at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi to exchange thoughts, ideas, memories and experiences. Who will gainsay that all of us were struck by nostalgia syndrome and looked bedazzled seeing our batch mates and seniors there.
It was Harendra Singh, who began by saying that he vividly remembered the old days (including his cafeteria pranks)!! Vintage memories were rampant all across the gathering.
Chief Guest for the inaugural alumni meet was Dr P L Gautam (Ex VC GBPUAT). He spoke of the efforts made by the institute to build bridges with the alumni and the establishment of the agri- alumni association. Dr Gautam remarked that institute’s reputation is in direct correlation with its alumni. He thanked the contribution of alumni in making GBPUAT- an Ivy League institute. The meet was attended by 300 members spanning from early sixty’s to the latest pass outs. Working for the upliftment of agri fraternity was the common chorus heard and it was cemented by a remark
“What you began, we managed to take forward to greater heights,” given by NK Arora- chairman agri alumni association.
During the dinner hosted by the association, the alumni had a fun time and a good interaction with co members and participants. The evening was marked by cultural items, games and a relishing north Indian cuisine.
Overall, it was an unforgettable and a memorable get together.
Pantnagarians always rule the roost!!!
